These interactive learning objects are re-usable activities that can be inserted into a full course, whether an online, blended, or in-person course, as a way of introducing, reinforcing, or assessing knowledge and skills among learners. They serve as great supplemental material for learners. Below are examples I’ve developed.
Technology Used: H5P
Example 1 — Interactive Video: Below is a hand hygiene video I turned into an interactive learning object. Rather than passively watching the video, learners have opportunities to pause along the way to think, check understanding, and reinforce concepts through drag and drop, multiple choice, true/false, links to additional resources, images, and other activities.
Expand/enlarge the video to more fully view and try out the interactive content in this video.
Example 2 — Hotspots: The below interactive learning object showcases the use of image hotspots to engage learners in identifying and learning about the parts of an atom.
Hover over and click on the plus signs below to explore the parts of an atom. You can also click on the expansion button in the top right corner of the learning object for a larger view of the activity.
Example 3 — Case Study/Branching Scenario: In this example of an interactive learning object, learners are presented with a case study that involves branching scenarios to help them apply what they’ve learned and practice decision-making skills. After working their way through the case study, learners then participate in a discussion board activity to further reflect on their choices and discuss with their peers.
Click Start the Course below to explore this learning object.
Example 4 — Drag-and-drop: This activity demonstrates a matching activity using a drag-and-drop interaction.
Example 5 — Hotspots: Here is an interactive activity to help learners identify parts.
